What is involved in Namespace Migration?

"Namespace migration" requires that three main activities are completed in order.

Namespace Migration

The key to namespace migration is in accurately and reliably moving all user classes and memberships from Series7 to your new target namespace environment. FirstQuarter's processes allow us to quickly extract all of the key information, to aid in mapping user names from one environment to another, and generating the scripts necessary to load the new environment with groups and memberships.

Model Migration

Many customers have models with inherent Series7 security user classes included for data security purposes. Transitioning these user classes into your new environment can be a challenge across Transformer, Framework Manager, Metrics Studio, and/or Planning. FirstQuarter's software processes address the accurate and reliable translation of security from one environment to another.

Cognos Connection

Cognos Connection Migration is a complex undertaking. Transitioning security across Cognos Connection is made relatively seamless with the FirstQuarter migration service. Cognos Connection Migration performs the following tasks:

• the permissions and policies for each user on each object
• the members of each Cognos group and role
• all objects within a user's My Folders

Migration of

• My Folders content
• Preferences (locale, output format, rows per page, etc...)
